Riccardo Crespi gallery presents Ilaria Cuccagna. Ossimori, fifth show of the Wunderkammer, a participatory culture project: a space in the gallery is being offered to new patrons who desire to present and promote the work of Italian artists. The chosen artist, selected by Jean Claude Mosconi, and with Francesca Pagliuca’s curation, is Ilaria Cuccagna. Cuccagna’s research explores memory, process and temporality concepts, through observance, which slowly conquers its own physical form, also integrating with the artist’s personal experiences.
The Ossimori project presents a series of works, which move on a double track: mostly, elements taken from the natural world are conversating with the result of human intervention. The differences, altough strong, tend to dissolve. The opposite forces put together influence each other, up to the point of merging into one. This happened in Vivrà finché ne avrai cura, where the natural bronze oxidation process is being emphasied by the presence of moss humidity; or in Ossimori, a series of diptyches in which the natural elements integrate themselves into the stone veinings in an almost mimetic manner. Following this dual overlook, the exhibited sculptures reveal a study which originates from listening, from exploring the surface, and finds its fullfilment deep, in the gaze that digs into the matter, looking for what regulates its inner balance.
